Beowulf | European Style Short Sword | Dawson Select Steel | San Mai + Ironwood
In a land cursed by darkness, in the frozen realm of the North, the monstrous Grendel; spawn of Cain and enemy of God, ravaged the great mead-hall of Heorot, slaughtering many brave warriors mercilessly. No sword could pierce his hell-born flesh, and no man dared challenge him. Until Beowulf.
A warrior of unmatched strength and unshakable faith, Beowulf journeyed from across the sea, answering King Hrothgar’s call not for riches, but to rid the land of evil. Trusting in divine will, he faced Grendel alone, fighting the beast in a brutal struggle of flesh and will. With hands blessed by God, Beowulf severed the demon’s arm from its body, leaving Grendel to crawl home and die.
This was no mere battle, it was a triumph of courage over chaos, a man’s righteous fury wielded against a cursed creature. Beowulf proved that strength without virtue is hollow, but valor guided by faith can slay even the darkest of devils.
— A retelling of the Legend of Beowulf, a 5th century Scandinavian poem found in the Codex of Nowell —
An epic sword worthy of its heroic namesake, Beowulf is inspired by the classic European-double-edged short sword and brought gloriously to life in American-made, high contrast San Mai Damascus steel. Unexpectedly light and effortlessly fast, the twin cutting edges are sharpened to razor fineness for slicing and piercing. This is a blade that positively radiates purpose and intent.
The hand guard is crafted of CPM-MagnaCut steel with a custom Scorched finish and Climbing Vine filework on the front and back. The handle is polished Arizona Ironwood, native son of the merciless landscapes found in the Sonoran Desert. Ironwood is well known as one of the densest and toughest woods in the world, and one of the most challenging to work. The handle is fastened with handmade Mosaic Pins and overlaid with genuine black leather wrap.
Beowulf is no longer a mere legend. Consider yourself warned, Grendel.
